WhatsApp Testing Dark Mode on Android
Select Android users got a new update of the most popular messaging app. WhatsApp has been promising dark mode for a long time, and now the process is given a noticeable go. One has to participate in the beta program to notice it, and it’s one of the moments it gets worth it. It’s not the official implementation, but a huge step towards it.
To know the power of the Dark Side of WhatsApp, one has to participate in its beta program and install the current version, numbered 2.20.13. These users can get new beta versions through the regular update mechanism, receiving beta updates instead of release versions.
Run the app, go to Settings, open Chat option, and select Display. If you have the right beta version, you’ll see the switch activating Dark mode. In Android 10, it’s also available through phone settings. If suddenly you do participate and have updated the app, but the dark mode is still unavailable, you need to back up all your chats and settings, delete the app, and reinstall the latest version through Google Play.
The testing program is open for users, so you can become one by subscribing on the WhatsApp Beta Test page. After the approval, you’ll be able to install beta versions via Google Play. There is another way: you can just download a beta APK from APKmirror or another mirror site and install it manually.
